Canopy Formation Competition

In 2013 the Canopy Formation Competition Team was established in Florida, USA. There the team began its training focused on canopy piloting, and skydiving safety. Three teams were formed the following year to receive advanced training in highly technical canopy piloting skills.  The team continued its intensive training in preparation for its first mini-tournament in Florida, USA, where they achieved high standing.

The teams most notable event in the following years included participation in the 2018 Australian Skydiving Championship held in the city of Gold Coast, Eastern Australia. With 27 countries competing from all over the globe. There the 2-way sequential team participated in 8 rounds from 9000’ and place highly among the other countries.

The 4-Way rotation team also participated in the same competition which also involved 8 rounds from an altitude of 9000 feet. The team created the formation and repeatedly rotating the parachute position within 1 minute and 30seconds. The Qatari team topped its group with a first place win, edging out the Russian team by only 2 points and followed by the Americans with a further 10 point drop.

The Qatari team (4-way sequential) also participated by performing 8 rounds from 9000 feet and creating specific canopy formations within a 2-minute time frame. The team victoriously claimed the gold, 20 points ahead of the Russian team.
